For Ranitomeya enthusiasts, Frog Day in April 2025—organised by Dendrobatidae Nederland—was the place to be. Frog Day is the event where breeders and keepers come together to buy and sell frogs, plants, and a wide variety of decorative materials. Once again, as the event’s photographer, I’m sharing a brief glimpse into the day.
The number of captive-bred Ranitomeya species is increasing rapidly.
The current top five are estimated to be: R. amazonica (“Iquitos” and “Arena Blanca”), R. imitator (“Varadero,” “Tarapoto,” and “Banded”), R. vanzolinii, R. sirensis (“Divorsia”), and R. fantastica (“Cainarachi”).
Captive-bred Exidobates mysteriosus also made an appearance at the event.
